Trainees are selected by the WISeNet Admission Committee based on the recommendations of participating faculty, and on the student’s background and interest in the program’s focus areas. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. to be considered for an NSF WISeNet traineeship. However, Duke WISeNet traineeship opportunities are available for outstanding International students. Prospective applicants must also be enrolled in a Ph.D. program in one of the WISeNet participating departments (Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Nicholas School of the Environment, Computer Science, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Psychology and Neuroscience, Statistical Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biology/Ecology) and working with one of the WISeNet faculty members.
Eligible Duke students who are interested in applying for a WISeNet traineeship should submit their application materials to the program coordinator. WISeNet traineeship applications are due on May 30. Non-Duke students interested in the WISeNet training program are strongly encouraged to apply to the graduate program of their interest through the Duke Graduate School website. Please, indicate your interest in the WISeNet certificate and training program in all application material, and notify the Program Director of their submissions.
